Maria Matveeva was born in Russia, Moscow. Starting her piano career with a study at Moscow Secondary Special Gnessin Music school and graduated with distinction from class of Honored Worker of Culture Elena Ivanova. She got the Reggie & Ann Dennis Scholarship, then Leverhulme Trust scholarship and currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music with Professor Graham Scott.

She is participating in concerts, competitions and festivals around Europe, Greece, Latvia, Italy, Germany, the UK and Russia, including S. Richter festival in Tarusa , Tokarevfest in German, concert programs in Vladimir Spivakov fund and Moscow government. In 2017, she won the Grant of the Mayor of Moscow in the nomination “Chamber music”. Also, Maria won Concerto competition in RNCM in Manchester.

As a soloist, she performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Igor Lerman, conducted by Igor Lerman, repeatedly played with Gnessins Virtuosos orchestra conducted by Mikhail Hohlov, with Russian Ministry of Defense Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Ponkin, with the Kaluga Youth Symphony Orchestra of Svyatoslav Richter conducted by Alexander Ghindin and Arsentiy Tkachenko, with RNCM Orchestra conducted by Rebecca Tong.

Maria participated in many international competitions such as: “Music Without Borders” Lithuania-Grand Prix, “Amadeus” Brno, Czech Republic – 2nd prize, “The Wreath of Chopin.” Velikiy Novgorod, Russia – 2nd prize, the 43rd International Competition “Virtuosos of Music”, Czech Republic – 2nd prize, the VII International Competition “Mozart” Rome, Italy – 2nd prize, “The Moray Piano” Elgin, Scotland – 2nd prize, the X International Rotary Competition for Young Musicians, Moscow, Russia – 1st prize, II International Competition for Young Pianists in Riga, Latvia – 1st prize, International competition “Flame” Paris, France-1st Prize, Young Pianist of the North Piano Competition, Newcastle, UK – 3rd prize, the 2nd International Competition “Dedicated to Sergei Prokofiev”, Moscow, Russia – 2nd Prize. As a chamber musician she won VI International Youth Competition of Gnessin Chamber Ensembles.

She was working for 1 year as Piano teacher assistant in Moscow Special Gnessin Music School in Russia. During her teaching she gained an experience of communication and supporting children in their piano path.

Her experience in England started in 2018 with a private teaching. She was preparing students for different grades exams. All of them successfully passed their assessments and continued to have piano lessons with her.
