I came here with no band experience, no friends in music, and no idea where to begin. Fast forward three years, and I am part of a band, have made lifelong friends, and am actively making music with people. I've been going to guitar lessons here for a while. Neil is an excellent tutor. I'm an older learner and he's very patient with me. He gears each session to things I'm interested in so that the learning feels like fun. Highly recommended.

My 19 yr old has been having guitar lessons at Maunders for several years and the experience has been amazing. He has gone from being a complete beginner to playing with a band, and is now pursuing further education in music and potentially a career in the industry. In addition to solid teaching and instrument skills, Neil and his team have created a great ambiance for nurturing and building confidence of learners. I think their patience, compassion and obvious love of sharing their passion for music is wonderful for any learner, but hugely beneficial in particular for the neurodivergent and/or with emotional/ mental health issues. I’ve loved my time here in this school. Always been a music lover and always wanted to play music which I have now learnt and am still learning thanks to this school. I’ve had some bad experiences with teachers from other subjects in the past but everyone here is so nice and supportive and it’s really made me come far, and I’m always looking forward to going in and learning. The atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming, I’ve always felt comfortable and at peace there. I’ve also met great people and been given nice opportunities as well. Great place for all ages also. The best music school in Manchester hands down. I’ve been going to Maunder’s for 10+ years and, don’t see myself leaving anytime soon. The staff are extremely supportive, have helped me exceed all of my musical goals. There’s also band workshops available for anyone who is interested in being in a band. I was quite nervous about joining the workshop at first as i’d never played in a group and due to neurodivergence, struggle with new things and meeting new people but now i couldn’t imagine life without it. The workshop hasn’t just given me a place to make music and perform, it’s introduced me to people who i hope to have in my life for a very long time and given me a safe space where i feel supported and safe to be myself and i know many other people who feel the same way. I will forever be thankful to Neil for creating the maunder’s community and for constantly going out of his way to support us and our music. Maunder’s is a place where everyone is welcome and accepted. There’s something for everyone here, no matter the instrument or the genre, there’s a place for you at Maunder’s.
