Live at The Empire

and Proper Manc
If you’ve ever wondered what happens when you take a bunch of music-obsessed
students, a stack of absolute bangers, and a room full of people ready to cheer… you
get our Warrington gig at The Empire.
We rolled in with that classic Maunders energy: a bit of nerves, a lot of excitement, and
the kind of “let’s goooo” buzz you only get right before the first song kicks off. And
honestly? The Empire delivered. Great vibe, proper stage, and a crowd that was up for
it from the start.
The vibe: big stage energy (with big smiles)
There’s something different about playing a venue like The Empire. It’s not just “a
performance” — it’s a moment. The lights hit, the first chord lands, and suddenly
everyone levels up.
You could see it happening in real time:
• Confidence switching on mid-song • Bandmates locking in tighter and tighter • Those “wait… we actually sound amazing” grins
That’s the magic. That’s why we do it.
What these gigs do for students (that lessons alone can’t)
Lessons build the skills — gigs build the musician.
Live shows teach the stuff you can’t fake:
• Keeping time when adrenaline’s flying • Recovering when something goes slightly sideways (because it always does) • Listening properly to the band, not just yourself • Performing with personality — not just playing notes
And the best part? Every single person comes back from a gig like this better than they
were the week before.
Biggest win of the night
The biggest win wasn’t “perfect playing” (although there was loads of it). It was seeing
students step up and own the stage — like they belonged there. Because they do.
If you were in the crowd, thank you for bringing the noise. If you were on stage, you
should be buzzing — you earned it.
Want to be in the next one?
If you’ve been thinking “I’d love to do that, but I’m not ready”… that’s exactly when
you should start.
We teach beginners, nervous adults, shy kids, and everyone in between — and we’re
big on building confidence in a way that feels supportive (not scary).
• Want to join a band workshop? We’ll match you with the right group. • Want singing lessons or choir? We’ll get you performing with confidence. • Want guitar/drums/piano and a goal to aim for? Gigs are the best motivation.
If you want to get involved, book a taster lesson and we’ll help you map out your path
from “maybe one day” to “I just played The Empire.”
