Edy Kim
Tutor Styles
Pop, Contemporary
Edy returns to Maunder’s School of Popular Music as a vocal and piano tutor, having previously grown to teach around 40 students per week across vocal, piano, and composition. His return brings together strong academic training, hands-on teaching experience, and real-world industry insight.
He graduated with First-Class Honours in Applied Music, achieving the highest overall mark in his class, and later completed a Master’s degree in Music and Management at the University of Leeds. With Vocal Performance as his major and Jazz/Pop Keyboard as his second study, Edy provides solid foundations in both voice and piano. This enables him to support students not only in technical development, but also in musicianship, harmony, accompaniment skills, and overall artistic confidence.
During his previous time at the school, he successfully prepared students for graded vocal and piano examinations from Grade 1 to Grade 6, consistently helping them achieve their certificates. He works with a wide range of ages and abilities, tailoring lessons to suit each individual’s goals.
Alongside teaching, Edy has produced and promoted live music events in Manchester, managing everything from artist coordination to marketing and audience engagement. This experience allows him to guide students beyond the practice room, helping them understand stage presence, performance preparation, and how to connect with an audience.
After gaining further industry experience and exploring contemporary music trends in South Korea, he returns with a refreshed perspective, combining structured training with modern stylistic awareness.
We’re delighted to welcome him back and look forward to the positive impact he will continue to make
